Macaroni and Cheese

This delicious macaroni is cheesy and bursting with flavor. It is seasoned to perfection. It is the perfect side dish to any meal. I love to serve it with holiday dinners, and its always a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups elbow noodles
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1/2 shredded extra sharp cheese
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Add macaroni noodles to a large pot and fill with water only to cover macaroni. Boil until macaroni is soft. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, beat the egg. Set aside.
  3. In a large, deep skillet melt the butter on medium-low heat, making sure not to scorch. Mix in the flour.
  4. Pour in the milk, whisking until smooth. Whisk in seasonings.
  5. Cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes until thick, then reduce heat to low.
  6. Take 1/4 cup of mixture and beat into egg, tempering it so that it will not scramble. Whisk egg into mixture until smooth.
  7. Add in cheese and whisk until smooth. Add in noodles and mix well.
  8. Serve warm.

*Store in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
