Peppermint White Hot Chocolate

Peppermint White Hot Chocolate

This yummy hot chocolate consists completely of the flavors of Christmas. The peppermint is not too much and the drink itself is oh so cozy! This is a very easy and simple drink to prepare, and it has only a few necessary ingredients. It is perfect for the holiday season!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate candy melts (I prefer Ghiradelli)
  • 1-2 teaspoons peppermint extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Topping

  • whipped cream
  • mini marshmallows
  • crushed peppermint or peppermint sprinkles
  • candy canes

Directions

  1. In a medium pot bring the milk to a low simmer. Add the candy melts and stir until completely melted.
  2. Stir in the peppermint and vanilla extracts. Let cool a bit before drinking. It will be very hot.
  3. This is an optional additional step. If you like you can melt a few additional candy melts per the directions on the bag. You can coat the rim of a mason jar or prefered drinking glass with them. Sprinkle some additional peppermint before the chocolate hardens. After the hot chocolate has cooled a bit, you can pour it into your prepared glass. If you pour it while it is too hot, it will melt your coated rim. (You can see mine doing this in the photos above) You can then top with whipped cream, marshmallows and more candy. You can even add in a candy cane if you like. Again, all of this is optional. If you don't want to do all of this, you can stop at step 2 and serve and it will still taste amazing.

*If desired, you can replace the white chocolate candy melts with milk chocolate ones. It will make the same, but it will give you a more traditional tasting hot cocoa.
