Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients:
- 3-4 medium green tomatoes
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow corn meal
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- vegetable oil
Directions:
- Add about 3 inches of vegetable oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Allow this to heat to 350F while you prepare your tomatoes.
- Add the butter milk to a medium bowl and whisk in the egg. Set aside.
- In a separate medium bowl, add the flour, corn meal and seasonings. Whisk and set aside.
- Slice each of your tomatoes to your desired thickness.
- Dip a slice of tomato into the buttermilk mixture, coating well. Add the tomato slice to the flour mixture and coat well. Place the slice on a plate and repeat with the remaining tomatoes.
- Add 4-5 slices of tomato about an inch apart in your skillet. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side. Repeat with remaining slices.
- Serve warm with buttermilk ranch. Enjoy!
*Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
