Halloween Peanut Butter Blossoms

Halloween Peanut Butter Blossoms

This is a super fun twist on a classic cookie. Unlike the traditional peanut butter blossoms, these are much thinner with the perfect balance of being crunchy on the edge and soft and chewy in the center. The little spiders are the perfect touch for the spooky season!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter Crisco
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar, plus more for later
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 32-36 Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, unwrapped
  • small candy eyes
  • frosting (I prefer black Funfetti or milk chocolate)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, cream together Crisco, peanut butter, sugars and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in eggs, one at a time, scraping the bowl after each addition.
  5. Mix in flour half a cup at a time.
  6. Scoop cookie dough by rounded tablespoon onto your prepared baking sheet. Roll cookie dough balls into granulated sugar, if desired. Make sure dough balls are about 1 1/2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for about 10 minutes.
  8. Add the frosting to a piping bag and snip the tip to make a small hole. Add a small dollop of the frosting to the center of each of the cookies and stick one Reece's cup on each dollop.
  9. Using the same piping bag, pipe out four legs on each side of the Reece's cup, starting from the peanut butter cup and ending on the edge of the cookie. Do this on all of the cookies. Follow the pictures above for reference, if needed.
  10. Using a toothpick, put a small dollop of frosting on the back of the eyes to stick two of them to the front of the Reece's cup. Do this to all of the cookies. Follow the pictures above for reference, if needed. Enjoy!

Store in an airtight container for up to one week.

*Make sure to only bake one pan of cookies at a time, or they will not bake correctly.
