Fried Buttermilk Chicken Tenders

Fried Buttermilk Chicken Tenders

This recipe is super yummy and a southern favorite. It is decently easy and pretty quick. It can make a mess, but it's worth it! I love to make this for family gathering and it always gets eaten up. We never have any leftovers when it comes to this crowd favorite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2-3 pounds chicken breast tenders
  • canola oil or vegetable oil (for deep frying)
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 2 tespoons dried parsley

Directions:

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and the egg. Set aside.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and seasonings. Set aside.
  3. Working with one piece of chicken at a time, dip in the egg mixture then let drip before coating well in the flour mixture. Place the coated chicken onto a plate and repeat with the remaining chicken.
  4. Add about 5 inches of the oil to a 5-6 quart dutch oven. Heat to 350 F.
  5. Working with 4-5 pieces of chicken at a time, place into your heated oil and fry for about 5 minutes. Make sure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 160 F. Repeat with remaining chicken. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces and sides. (Macaroni and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Biscuits)

*Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

*This chicken is great served cold and cut up on top of your favorite salad. This makes for a great and easy lunch during the week. It is a great recipe for meal prepping.
